Shazam, FM radio and New Music

Maybe we don't need to prod FM radio into playing more new music after all...  Mobile users are now using Shazam (150 million users) to tag 4 million songs a day (and growing fast).  In a world where most FM radio stations play almost nothing but the same 200 songs over and over, what's going to happen when all the popular songs are 'Shazammed' directly into personal playlists?  FM radio ceases to be marginally useful when listeners have Shazammed radio to death.

A practical solution for FM radio seems to be to embrace the Shazam, and to do nothing but give listeners a steady flow of new music.  FM radio spinning new music + Shazam = a great music discovery and acquisition proposition.  Alternatively, FM radio may be Shazammed into extinction.
